Meoded Moroccan Clay: Natural Clay Plaster for Interior Walls
An earthen, matte, hand-troweled finish with soft movement and depth—breathable, low-VOC, and built for dry interior walls and ceilings.
Moroccan Clay is Meoded’s clay-based decorative plaster: a natural, mineral finish that brings warmth and tactile depth to interior walls. Troweled in thin coats, it settles into a soft, matte, mottled surface with gentle movement in the color—Old-World character that works in modern and traditional rooms. It is a distinct finish, not tadelakt and not microcement. Moroccan Clay is for dry interior walls and ceilings; it is not waterproof and is not made for showers or wet areas.
The Finish
A Real Clay Decorative Plaster
Moroccan Clay is formulated with real clay and mineral ingredients. That natural composition is what gives it its character: a matte, mottled surface with soft tonal movement and a hand-worked feel you can’t print or paint on.
It is troweled on in thin layers with a stainless-steel rounded-edge trowel, building subtle depth as it goes. The result is an earthen, contemporary plaster look—often compared to high-end Venetian aesthetics, but with a softer, more grounded matte character.

- Modern or Old-World character
The Properties
Breathable, Low-VOC, Interior
Because it is clay-based, Moroccan Clay is naturally breathable—it absorbs and releases moisture, which can help balance indoor humidity. It is also low-VOC, a meaningful point for bedrooms, living areas, and offices.
Coverage runs roughly 120 to 140 square feet per gallon for a two-coat application, depending on surface porosity. Plan substrate prep and a compatible primer for the best result.
- Naturally breathable clay formula
- Low-VOC
- Coverage ~120–140 sq ft/gal (two coats)
- Interior walls and ceilings
Where It Belongs
Best Uses—and the One Rule
Moroccan Clay suits interior feature walls and ceilings in living rooms, bedrooms, offices, and hospitality spaces. It’s a favorite for fireplace surrounds and accent walls where you want depth without gloss.
The one rule: keep it dry. Moroccan Clay is not waterproof and is not intended for showers, tub surrounds, or other wet areas. If you want a seamless, water-resistant finish for a bathroom, that’s a different product—Concretta microcement.
- Interior feature walls and accent walls
- Fireplace surrounds and ceilings
- Living, bedroom, office, hospitality
- Not for showers or wet areas
How It Differs
Moroccan Clay vs. Tadelakt vs. Concretta
These three are easy to confuse, and they are different. Moroccan Clay is clay—earthen, matte, for dry interior walls. Tadelakt is a lime technique, stone-polished and water-repellent. Concretta is a cement microcement, seamless and built for wet areas.
Choose Moroccan Clay when you want a natural, tactile interior wall. For a water-resistant shower or wet-room finish, choose Concretta instead.
- Moroccan Clay = clay, matte, interior dry walls
- Tadelakt = lime, polished, water-repellent (technique)
- Concretta = cement microcement, seamless, wet-area ready
