Specialty finishes

Lime and marble dust, applied by hand.

Meoded is lime and marble dust troweled on in coats. You're choosing depth more than a color, and it changes as the light moves. That is why nothing on this page is a paint chip.

Polished lime plaster, burnished

Why

Depth you cannot print.

Paint sits on the surface as a film of even thickness. Lime plaster is built up in troweled coats, so the wall has real relief — high spots that catch light and low spots that hold shadow.

Phoenix light shows it off. Three hundred days of hard directional light is what these finishes were made for, and it is where flat paint looks flattest.

The trade-offs: it is applied by hand, it costs more per square foot than paint, and no two walls are identical. Screens vary and the finish shifts with the light in the room. Come see a troweled board before you commit anything.

Range

Four ways a wall can hold light.

Polished

Stucco Lamundo & Palladino

Lime plaster burnished to polished stone. Lamundo is the high-gloss marble look; Palladino is quieter, with less movement.

Matte stone

Marmorino Tintoretto

Textured, matte to low sheen, with warm depth. The one rated for exterior walls as well as interior.

Mineral wash

Lime Wash

A soft, cloudy, matte lime finish for interior walls and for exterior stucco, brick and stone.

Concrete

Concretta & Golmex

Concrete-look plasters. Concretta is the microcement, sealed for showers and wet walls.

Walls

Screens vary and paint shifts with the light in the room. Pick up a sample before you commit to a wall.

The paint beside a plastered wall.

A plastered wall is usually one wall, so the rest of the room goes in a matte paint half a step off the plaster rather than a match.

OC-17White Dove — ceilings and trim in most plastered rooms.
HC-81Manchester Tan — the adjacent walls beside a warm polished plaster; close, not matched.
244Strathmore Manor — when the plaster is the light element and the room needs a floor of color.
HC-170Stonington Gray — beside Concretta or Golmex, where anything warm fights the concrete read.
HC-166Kendall Charcoal — a ceiling above a metallic wall, so the sheen has something to throw against.

Counter

Can I apply it myself?

You can buy it here either way. The first coat is forgiving and the finish coats are not. If it is a feature wall in a room you care about, use an applicator who has done it.

What does it cost against paint?

Material runs several times a gallon of premium paint per square foot, and labor is the larger half. It is priced as a surface, not a coat.

Will it crack?

Lime moves with the wall rather than against it, which is why it holds where a rigid film would fail. Substrate movement still shows, so the prep matters more than the product.

Can it go in a shower?

Meoded Concretta can. It is a microcement, troweled seamless and sealed with PlasterGuard, and it goes over existing tile without a demo. True tadelakt is a Moroccan lime technique rather than a product we stock — the tadelakt page explains the difference. The rest of the range stays out of direct water.

Can you match a color I have?

We tint Meoded in store. Bring a chip or a piece of the material. A plaster will never sit exactly on a paint chip, because it is not a flat surface, and the sample board will show you what it does.

Who applies it matters most.

We keep a list of applicators in the Phoenix metro who work in Meoded daily, and we know which ones do which finishes. Tell us the room and we will point you at two or three.
