Meoded · Matte Venetian plaster
Marmorino Tintoretto
Meoded's matte to low-sheen Venetian plaster, made from natural limestone and marble dust. Warm, deep color movement without the shine, inside or outside.

What it's for
Tintoretto has the depth of a polished plaster without the gloss. Two troweled coats leave soft color variation, and the second is smoothed over and over with a clean trowel until it reads like honed stone. Worked differently, the same material can look marble-smooth, distressed or like natural stone.
It is lime-based and breathable, rated for interior and exterior walls, and Meoded lists it as zero VOC. Indoors it goes over a smooth Level 4 or 5 wall. Outdoors it goes over a cleaned stucco brown coat in three thin coats.

How it goes on
Meoded's steps, shortened. The full instructions come with the product.
- 1Prime. New drywall gets a drywall primer (PVA) and glossy paint gets sanded and a multi-purpose primer; then one coat of Meoded Quartz Primer, three to five hours to dry. A sound, flat painted wall needs only the Quartz Primer.
- 2First coat: thin and even with a stainless steel trowel. While it is still moist, a damp sponge worked in circles evens out the pattern and takes out trowel marks. At least 8 hours to dry.
- 3Second coat: the same way, then smooth it repeatedly with a clean trowel until the finish is right.
- 4After at least 48 hours, seal with Stain Shield (no sheen, no color change) or wax with HydroWax for a soft sheen.
- 5Outside, over a stucco brown coat: pressure-wash it, let it dry, prime with Quartz Primer thinned up to 25% with water, and apply three thin coats instead of two.
In Arizona
Outside, the finish is sealed with Stain Shield, which goes on between 50 and 90°F. On a sunny wall in a Phoenix summer the surface runs hotter than that, so plan exterior plaster for the cooler months or the shaded side early in the day.
Colors
Meoded's photographed samples. The same color reads differently in each plaster, with its texture and sheen. Screens vary; see the boards at the store before you choose.
