Meoded · Pearlescent metallic paint
Sapphire Metallic
A low-VOC, water-based metallic paint made with fine mica for a shimmering satin finish on walls, trim, doors, furniture and metal. With glass beads it becomes the textured Sahara Effect.
What it's for
Sapphire Metallic brushes, rolls or sprays (HVLP; airless isn't recommended). Rolled or brushed, it goes on quickly in one direction, joint to joint, keeping a wet edge. A brush or roller still leaves some movement in a metallic; for an entirely even finish, Meoded recommends spraying.
Mixed with Meoded's clear glass beads, it becomes the Sahara Effect: a textured, pearlescent finish sometimes called liquid wallpaper. #5 beads give a bolder texture, #10 a subtler one.
It will not stick to gloss paint, vinyl or glass, so shiny surfaces are dulled and primed first. Outside, or anywhere it takes a lot of handling, it gets two or three coats of Meoded's Cristallo Clear.

How it goes on

- 1Clean, dull and prime the surface; it will not bond to anything shiny.
- 2Apply quickly in one direction, joint to joint, keeping a wet edge. Two coats. Spray it if the finish must be entirely even.
- 3For the Sahara Effect: stir 3 lb of glass beads into a gallon and brush it on in lines, smoothing right away with a clean brush (Sahara Lines, over a plain coat of Sapphire cured 12 hours) or a rigatto tool (Sahara Fabric, two beaded coats 12 hours apart).
- 4Outside or in high-traffic spots, finish with two or three coats of Cristallo Clear.
In Arizona
Meoded's range is 50 to 90°F and 25 to 75% relative humidity, and it notes that heat and dry air make a metallic lose its wet edge. Phoenix air is often drier than 25%, so work indoors, keep the sections small, and spray where you can.

Is Sapphire Metallic tinted at the counter?
No. It comes in Meoded's factory colors, and we stock them. Lime Wash, Pearlas Velvet, Crystal Brush and every Meoded plaster except Golmex are tinted at our counter.
