Lime Wash
A slaked-limestone mineral paint brushed on in two coats for a soft, cloudy, matte wall. Inside or outside, over brick, stucco, masonry and drywall.

What it's for
Lime Wash goes on with a brush in crisscross strokes and dries lighter than it looks wet. As the lime cures it blooms into natural color variation with slight streaking: the mottled, weathered character of lime. A third coat evens it out if you want less movement.
Brick, stucco and masonry take it directly; outside, the first coat is thinned about 10% with water. Drywall and painted walls get two coats of Meoded Lime Wash Base Coat first, which gives the wash something to soak into. Glossy paint gets sanded and primed before that.
Outside, it is protected with two or three coats of Stain Shield after 48–72 hours and kept dry for seven days.

How it goes on
Meoded's steps, shortened. The full instructions come with the product.
- 1Prep: clean off dirt, chalk, mildew and anything loose. New drywall gets a drywall primer (PVA), then two coats of Lime Wash Base Coat; painted walls get the Base Coat; glossy surfaces get sanded and a multi-purpose primer first. New cement-based exterior surfaces need 21 days to cure.
- 2Stir well, before and during. Outside on porous brick, stucco or block, dampen the surface lightly and thin the first coat about 10% with water.
- 3First coat with a lime wash brush in a crisscross pattern, keeping a wet edge. At least 8 hours to dry.
- 4Second coat the same way. For more mottling, mist it lightly with water 8–12 hours after the last coat.
- 5Outside, seal with Stain Shield after 48–72 hours and keep it out of rain for seven days.
In Arizona
Meoded's limits are tight for Arizona: not below 55°F, not above 85°F, and not in direct sun. For an exterior: spring or fall, early in the day, on the shaded side. In a Phoenix summer, wait.
