Reading

LRV is how much light a color reflects, from 0 for black to 100 for pure white.

At LRV 50 it returns a little over half the light that falls on it. That is enough to show its color across a full wall without darkening the room, which is why most whole-room interiors fall in this range.

Aura Interior and Regal Select Interior cover the interior work. Benjamin Moore does not recommend it for exterior use.

It does not wash out in bright Arizona light. Use it for a whole room, a cabinet body, or interior trim against deeper walls.

Matte or eggshell on walls; satin on trim, semi-gloss on doors. Higher sheens on walls amplify stucco texture and roller marks.

Benjamin Moore does not recommend 216 for exterior use, so only the interior lines are listed. Tinted while you wait at the counter. Ask for a quote and we’ll call back with the price and have it mixed for pickup; sample pints are mixed the same way.

Questions

  • Will it look like this on my wall?

Not exactly. Screens vary and paint shifts with the light in the room. Pick up a sample before you commit to a wall — put it up for a full day so you see it in morning light, afternoon light and lamplight before the gallons get tinted.

  • Is it approved for my HOA?

That depends on your community, not on the color alone. Search your HOA to see its approved palette, then bring the scheme in and we will tell you how California Hills compares. Committees approve colors, not brands, so a Benjamin Moore can is fine as long as the color matches the approved sheet.

  • Which line for a west-facing exterior?

Benjamin Moore’s own guidance is that 216 is not an exterior color, so we would not put it on a west wall in any line. Bring a photo of the wall to the counter and we will find the closest color that is rated for it.

  • Can you match it in another brand?

We tint Benjamin Moore. 216 is a native Benjamin Moore formula, so there is nothing to approximate here — it comes out of the machine as published. If you have a Dunn‑Edwards code, Benjamin Moore already has that formula too. For a chip or a lid with no code, bring it in and we will read it and tell you how close we can get.
