Reading

LRV is how much light a color reflects, from 0 for black to 100 for pure white.

At LRV 11 it absorbs most of the light that falls on it. It runs hot on any wall that takes afternoon sun.

Aura Exterior and Element Guard are our first choices at this depth on a wall in full sun, because a deep color is the first to fade. Regal Select Exterior is a sound choice where the wall is shaded.

Deep colors are the Arizona trim and accent default — trim and fascia set darker than the body, front doors, shutters and iron. For a whole house, talk to us first about which walls take the afternoon sun.

Matte or eggshell on interior walls — at this depth eggshell handles scuffs and touch-ups better than matte. Flat on exterior stucco; soft gloss on doors and shutters.

Works on

  • — Exterior body (muted colors this deep are common in desert HOA palettes) — too strong a color for the Scottsdale and Paradise Valley limits
  • — Exterior trim and fascia, set darker than the body
  • — Front doors and shutters
  • — Accent walls
  • — Cabinet uppers or lowers

Questions

  • Will it look like this on my wall?

Not exactly. Screens vary and paint shifts with the light in the room. Pick up a sample before you commit to a wall — put it up for a full day so you see it in morning light, afternoon light and lamplight before the gallons get tinted.

  • Is it approved for my HOA?

That depends on your community, not on the color alone. Search your HOA to see its approved palette, then bring the scheme in and we will tell you how Summer Nights compares. Committees approve colors, not brands, so a Benjamin Moore can is fine as long as the color matches the approved sheet.

  • Which line for a west-facing exterior?

Aura Exterior or Element Guard for a west wall in full sun. A color this deep runs hot and fades first, so it belongs in a line made to hold color in heat.

  • Can you match it in another brand?

We tint Benjamin Moore. 777 is a native Benjamin Moore formula, so there is nothing to approximate here — it comes out of the machine as published. If you have a Dunn‑Edwards code, Benjamin Moore already has that formula too. For a chip or a lid with no code, bring it in and we will read it and tell you how close we can get.
